Ethel McKay, age 81 of McHenry, IL passed away on February 11, 2023, in Lake Zurich at the Auberge Memory Care Community. She was born on May 10, [1942] to parents Frank and Margaret (Kossack) McKay, in Elgin, IL.

Ethel graduated and received a Bachelor's degree from Illinois State University and a Masters degree from Northern Illinois University. She had a career devoted to education. She taught physical education at Crystal Lake Central H.S. and Crystal Lake South H.S. for more than 20 years.

Ethel enjoyed country music and going to concerts. She loved to be out gardening. She grew up on a farm. She loved to play cards and tennis. She enjoyed camping.

Ethel is survived by a sister-in-law Margaret McKay; and cousins Henke and Cheryl Arthur; close friend Elaine Frantz who has lived with her for the past 20 years and will miss her very much; and Elaine's nephew Michael Murray who considered Ethel his aunt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant sister Sally McKay; brother Tom Mckay; and several; beloved aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, February 23, 2023. from 10 a.m. until noon. A funeral service will be at noon, followed by burial at Algonquin Cemetery.
