Jim and I grew up together in Wonder Lake until the 3rd grade.  Our parents met after World War II and were life long friends.  Jim and I were rambling buddies through grade school.  Summers at the beach, roaming the fields of Pure Oil Research.  Sleep overs watching John Wayne Movies in Black and White.  We walked together from C.L. to Wonder Lake and counted how many discarded Lucky, Strike packs we found.  (Why?)

I think we were 13 when we rode a bicycle built for two to Wonder Lake where his Grandpa owned a marina and tavern.  We snuck out at night in a row boat and spent the night in the middle of the lake listening to WLS  on an AM  transistor radio while trying to fish for Carp.

We practised archery together at Dave's (?)  Sports Store in downtown C.L. with our Dads and took a deer hunting trip together to Northern Wisconsin....Luckily we never saw any deer!

We went out for Cross Country together as freshman....Jim was always talking me into things....what a forgettable experience that was for both of us.  Coach Kloepfer seemed to relish our agony!

Our common interests drifted apart in our high school years but we stayed in touch then and later in our adult lives.  Whenever we saw each other it was like not a moment had passed since we had been together, just ramblin bare foot boys.

I still stay in touch with his wife, Cindy Wright at Christmas time.

Gosh, I miss him.
